This weekend I’m planting lots of seeds for my Autumn and Winter garden 🌱🌱🌱🌱

Growing edible gardens has given me so much more than just fresh, nutritious food. It also sparks so much joy and my daily source of inspiration. In a world full of technology and busyness it is soul enriching, life-giving and helps bring me back to what’s really important. Which are just some of the reasons I love encouraging others grow their own.

Sweet Potato and White Chocolate Slice 🔮This witchy garden to plate slice is all kinds of magic 🪄 The sweet potato makes it so fudgy and the white chocolate gives it a caramel flavour with crisp chewy edges 🤤

Sweet potatoes can be used for both sweet and savoury dishes plus they have edible leaves 🍃 making them such a great base crop for those wanting to eat more from their garden.

10 Edible Plants to grow in the SHADE // As winter approaches the days grow shorter and the sun tracks lower in the sky. This means more of our gardens will be shaded.

🌿Below are 10 edible plants that will still grow with more shade:

🌱 Lettuce
🌱 Kale
🌱 Radish
🌱 Asian Greens
🌱 Rainbow Chard
🌱 Parsley
🌱 Rocket
🌱 Spinach
🌱 Mustard Greens
🌱 Mint

🌿Growing edible plants in the shade will require more patience as growth rates will be slower and will often result in smaller plants. This can be a great thing though for plants that you don’t use very often or in small amounts. Less waste and they will also require a lot less water.

Have I mentioned I love sweet potatoes? 😂 Sweet Potatoes can be expensive! Especially if they are not the common variety. Recently the Red and White ones were over $9 p/k at my local store. With their ease to grow and abundant production, the Sweet Potato is such an economical plant to grow in your home garden.
